The New York Giants have 27 year old Daniel Jones at QB. Jones has always been seen as a mid level starter and a guy who has struggled to handle the job when he’s on the field, with career averages of just 209 passing yds /game, and 11 passing TDs /season with 8 ints /season. Nobody would say that Danny Boy is a game-changing QB for a team. But they needed some guys for him to throw the ball to.
So they went and drafted WR Wan’Dale Robinson in 2022. So it was evident last year that the Giants were looking to get better and try to get more explosive at the WR position. Robinson looked less than great in the games that he played for New York. He was largely regarded as a project – as he didn’t have great separation or show anything special in college. Personally, I questioned the pick, but obviously the GM in New York saw something that enticed him. In the 30 games he has played, he has only gone over 70 yards receiving 4 times, and has scored just 4 TDs.
Fast forward.
The New York Giants go and draft WR Malik Nabers out of LSU in this year’s draft. Nabers comes along without potential problems including great anticipation on throws and awesome route running ability. And the upside of Nabers is so incredibly promising that the Giants think that they can either fix their passing game or work with it.
Nabers has produced excellently for them thus far with 3 TDs and four 70+ receiving yard games already in just 8 games.
What exactly is the intention of the New York Giants, it just doesn’t seem to be 100% clear for most people.
Is it going to just be a complete push to get weapons for their passing game? Is the NY Giants Daniel Jones still so intriguing that they feel that he’s going to be the guy for them? I feel it’s obvious that Jones hasn’t shown anything to the New York organization that shows that he’s going to be the guy for that team. Have they 100% given up on the running game? It seems they have, obviously having moved on from Saquon Barkley, who was carrying the ball 17 times /game – but also any semblance of running the ball, as RB Tyrone Tracy has only ran the ball with a meager 9 carries /game.
New York was actually starting to look like they weren’t all that far off from maybe becoming a contender after the 2022 season, where they went 9-7-1 and made it to the NFC Divisional game. But it just seems now, that everything has gotten very jumbled and confusing for the Giants.
Who are they and what will be their win total in Vegas next season?
